Dreams

" I have a dream". That famous speech by Martin Luther King still rings in the hearts of people of all ages and colors through out the years. Carl Sandberg said; " nothing happens unless first a dream". So what is a dream? It is a mental picture of something we want in the future, which has not yet occured. It may be small or big and lofty and somewhat elusive, but it is still a dream.

As we get older, we re-define our dreams. We realize that a childhood dream of being a pro athelete or walking on the moon probably will not happen. Our dreams then mature as we do. A great line from the movie Rudy says; "Dreams are what makes life tolerable".
So go ahead and dream today. It's free!

Worry

There is always things to worry about. Sometimes when things are going really well we can worry about not worrying. Even though we know internally that we shouldn't worry, those external demons of doubt creep into our minds......

Thoughts like, this time you will not make it or what is this happens, etc. These thoughts can turn into dread and become a self fulfilling prophesy.

I do think that sometimes it is good to visualize the worst case scenario. That way we face the fear or giant head on. Instead of a faceless ghost, it becomes a tangible
challenge we face.Usually when we do this, things never turn out that bad.

So ask yourself. What's the worst thing that could happen? Hey, it wasn't so bad after all- right?

The present

Yesterday is history

Tomorrow is a mystery

Today is a gift

That is why it is called "the present"!

Starting again

Today I start blogging again. It has been one year since my last blog. It made me think about what starting again really means. I think that our lives are like a book. We have different chapters in our life. Sometimes the chapters may not be pleasant but we can always turn the page and start a new chapter. Today is a new page. Tomorrow will be a different page. What is really exciting is that even we don't know how it will end. Instead of fear it gives me faith. God see my life from beginning to end. All I have to do is walk in step with him. Sure, I will stumble along the way but I can always get up and start again!

When Things Don't "Work Out"

Like the song says; you had "high hopes". Maybe it was in a new job or a new relationship, but for whatever reason, things did not "work out". You feel totally deflated, like the the air that had just gone out of a balloon. Another name for it is being disillusioned.

Everyone has had this experience in life. It is so easy to think that when things don't work out that we made a mistake, but maybe not? We can learn from every experience we have. It can certainly make us more humble. Don't look at it as a failure, but as a revolving door. The good news is that revolving doors go all the way around. We can actually come out better on the other side of a let down or "bad experience". It is all a matter of perspective.

Whatever ever has happened has happened. Today is a new day. I will enjoy the ride on the revolving door and not look back. The final chapter is not written just yet........ I am just turning the page !

Open And Closed Doors In Life

Opportunity comes in strange ways. Metaphorically speaking, people often refer to it as open and closed doors. An open door symbolizes the opportunity to go through it to what is on the other side. We don't have to go through the door but the invitation is open to do so.That is what makes life so interesting is that it is full of choices.

On the flip side however, there are the closed doors that occur in our lives. We really want the door to open but no matter how we knock or push or pull it will not open. Usually someone is on the other side controlling the door handle. It could be a job or a relationship, but whatever it is doesn't happen. So what do we do in the mean time?

One saying is that; "One one door closes, another one opens". Someone replied though and said; "yeah, but it's hell in the hallway"! Waiting on that right door can be diffficult, especially if you are unemployed. This is where your Faith is really tested.Waiting however, does build character.

I love stories of human destiny. Usually these stories involves some heartache or some other disappointment or closed door that happened in order for the right one to open. Here is a great quote to remember:

" Destiny Is The Hidden Key, That Through A Series of Locked Doors, Will Find the Right One And Open It"!
